maybe you're using different hashtables.
is besides nondeterministic the most reason for different results.

The source code is provided but there is no makefile for LInux. It is too sad to see such a good chess program running only in a bloated OS.

I was able to compile it on Linux Mint 18.2 with no issu ...

I don't have to be a Programmer to see that Stockfish was completely outclassed.
Run any Engine you like under whatever conditions you want and can you find 19. Re1 ?

How many CPUs / cores did each program have? Were the computing resources during the match the same for both AlphaZero and Stockfish 8? I didn't see that when I admittedly hastily scanned the article ...
