His days are numbered, he should return to playing chess, instead of playing with the big guns, a fight he can not win.

A fight he cannot win? What kind of defeatist talk is that? So you suggest he play chess while Russia sinks ever deeper into authoritarian despotism and revanchism? Perhaps you ought to consider that there was once a time when it seemed the Berlin Wall would never come down. But it did. All it took was enough people to set a courageous example. Kasparov could not possibly be doing anything more important than what he's doing now.

Didn't Morphy die of depression, or something like that, because he was too famous to get any other job?

The reason he cannot win is because everyone in Russia knows that he is working for another government.
This became official a couple of weeks ago, with the announcement that he is a member of the US organization National Security Advisory Council
