Why I can not read about this strange behavior in the Houdini FAQ (http://www.cruxis.com/chess/manual/index.html)?
What is this like not a trojan horse?

I used three different Trojan scan software--AVG Antivirus, Avira and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. My system shows clean, no virus no trojan. I have several downloads from Houdini site, no problems so far. I also booted into safemode and scaned again with all three pieces of software. Cant find anything. Can you tell me what you are seeing so I can check something else?perejaslav wrote:Why Houdini 2.0 - after being installed - tries to send some unknown info to the cruxis.com?![]()

If a program makes attempt to do something hidden from the user it's a malware!kgburcham wrote:

I suspect this is a form of copy protection added so that Mr Houdart can track the use of pirated/unauthorized copies of Houdini.perejaslav wrote:If a program makes attempt to do something hidden from the user it's a malware!kgburcham wrote:

Why Mr. Houdart didn't describe it in the FAQ?
Can you tell us more? How did you detect this communication attempt? What protocols/ports are being used? When does it occur---when the engine starts?perejaslav wrote:

Houdini doesn't contain any virus nor horse nor worm. On all computers that are in the Houdini development chain Microsoft Security Essentials is running permanently.perejaslav wrote:Why Houdini 2.0 - after being installed - tries to send some unknown info to the cruxis.com?![]()

Of course, if you obtained your Houdini copy from a different source than the official Houdini download address (and maybe you did, as I cannot find your name in the Houdini user's list), there are no guarantees... who knows what hackers add into the code.

For your info:perejaslav wrote:Sorry but your excuse is poor![]()
Yes, I obtained it from the official site and use a real key for a Houdini though I didn't purchase it (it's not a „keygened“ key, it's a gift from a friend of mine). I like „try before you buy“ system ( but you decline it for H2.0 ) and now I must claim I will never buy a software from a man like you! Stop lying and tell all the truth to us! Why did you implement a hidden trojan into the Setup???![]()
Shame on you, Mr. Houdart!
Houdini does not contain a Trojan, it doesn't steal any information nor harm the system.A Trojan horse, or Trojan, is a destructive program that masquerades as an application. The software initially appears to perform a desirable function for the user prior to installation and/or execution, but (perhaps in addition to the expected function) steals information or harms the system.[1] Unlike viruses or worms, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves, but they can be just as destructive.
