Not a very good choice of Ivanhoe compiles to have tested

Its the KLO one named IvanHoe999946h.exe (size 521KB from the 2011/12/09).
Is a noticeable better one out there ?
Fore me it was clear from the outset that i have taken the false version
And that is one (the main ?) reason why testing such versions (or the program itself) is waste of time !

a waste of time to test the engines that smashed rykbas dominance of computer chessThatsIt wrote:Its the KLO one named IvanHoe999946h.exe (size 521KB from the 2011/12/09).

pray do tell us what you consider a good time is then, looking at disingenuous rating lists that still have rybka at #2

suggest a modicum of research before testing any engine , had you done this with klo's offering you would have seen others state it was buggy (some even called this the worst engine ever )and even klo stated it lost on time and posted several so called fixs for it. sadly he is something of an arrogant muppet so it is very easy to be confused / mislead by the way he posts his engines on his own site
a simple pm or email to peter pan would result in his (honest ) opinion of which compiles are best to test with new bases and without bases
Thank you for testing though and Best wishes to you and yours

I think it's pretty standard practice that enthusiasts usually go for the most up to date version of an engine. That's why I used Ivanhoe 9.46h in my tournament as well.
Gerhard does make a good point though and it's one that many have expressed concern about. When you have willy-nilly releases and by different parties, it's hard to keep up and it's confusing too.
Graham.
