"We've made some very good progress lately.
The current development version is about 40 Elo stronger than Houdini 2, and about 60 Elo stronger than Houdini 1.5.
The Houdini 3 release is scheduled for September 2012, but if development continues at this prosperous rate we may have to advance it :)."

Hello Mr Houdart,

if the elo gain is real, i think you should release it even now, i think many many people would buy it immediately (me too).

That's like making a chicken lay 4 eggs in one day.
Or like cooking a sumptous steak and serving it whilst it is just about possible to eat by humans, but not very healthy or tasty, and only some bits in it are at all edible.
A genius comes along and says "serve it NOW!", "people would already buy it!".

It looks like Vas's vacation from intense working on Rybka, after Rybka 3 release, went on too long.
Vas might get all the elo increase he wants, and still not release it as a UCI engine.
I understand more and more Vas' point of view with respect to releasing versions to the public, it basically means that you give away your efforts for anyone to RE and copy.
Even as we speak, yet another reverse engineering effort of Houdini 1.5a is being made on another forum...
Wow! Now i might be able to understand more than i did till now. Thanks!

Yeah,I was just about to say that you are a target too....

But,you owned my respect with your endless efforts and dedication to further improve your chess engine and release your updates in relatively short periods of time....

Yes, the ideal goal would be to have 2/3 releases per year (updates), instead of some old engine that released 1 time in 3 years (perhaps) and one other that releases 1 time in 2 years.

But i think we are missing Critter, at least as regards the elo improvements...look at this...
