Well at least I still have Kamsky vs Nakamura today! By the way I don't think the game was that bad.

No, you're right. :) I was actually hoping for a subtle ending like in the Petrossian/Botvinnik game I posted yesterday: I'm sure Petrossian would have been able to do something with white against black's weaker pawn structure.

Has the final technics improved so much since 1963 that we can't try anymore to push the finale a bit more?

On his blog, GM Nigel Davies, made a not of how well prepared Gelfand has been for this match. I think it was yesterday that Gelfand played an opening that he has rarely if ever played so Anand wasn't prepared.

Which makes me think that Anand was playing some good chess to get the draws since it seems Gelfand is a little better prepared??

So although it is boring for us (ACK! ANOTHER DRAW??)

It does seem Gelfand has come to win, albeit boringly! :)

Yes, this is a good assessment. Suffice to see how annoyed Anand looked yesterday: his body language was shouting it.

So now we're up to a 6-games finish. What could be Gelfand's ace in the sleeve? He must have prepared a very strong novelty for one of the two last games (not sooner, to prevent Anand from having time to react). Because Gelfand can't wait for the rapid games: Anand is, with Carlsen, the best player in the world at such pace.

All in all, Gelfand looks happy, and Anand looks annoyed, which shows that he doesn't feel like he is controlling the match.

At least we have an happy Tom during the press conferences ;)

Happy indeed! :)

Man! Wouldn't it be crazy if Gelfand uncorked a Bird opening in one of the last two games?? Now THAT would some fun....!!

BG may have missed a win in this game. He could have played 13. Nxd5! instead and even if he could not win from here it at least would have been a very interesting battle to watch.
