Problem solved. I deleted ini file and it shows as 1 CPU in DF 13 GUI but now it's humming at 2.5 million nps at 8 cores.

Thanks for reporting this. Seems to be solved, otherwise, I would suggest to send me a log file.

Anyway, the ini.txt file is there for people who prefer to control parameters in such a way, but deleting it is perfectly fine if you later control them through the GUI (both, UCI and winboard). Note that if you press the button "save" the parameters dialog in the GUI, Gaviota will create a saved.ini file to remember the parameters enter in the last session. This may be the job of the GUI, but it is there as an option.

PS: I wonder if this is related to a problem Adam detected and mentioned to me a couple of days ago. Looks like I included in the distribution the ini file with the Linux format rather than windows (the carriage return thing). This problem bit me more than once, which is unacceptable. I do not think it was the problem here, but I wonder.

The ini.txt formatting appears to be unrelated to to this problem.

Need to keep him alive... Who do I blame for the bugs otherwise? We all need an official scapegoat. :-)
