It is quite earlier yet where Don lives. I'd clock it around 3:55 AM.
I'm hoping that we can just log on to our Komodo accounts and download the MP version without any problems once the bell rings and the version is let out of its gates.

Hi All,
We are going to send out a mass mailing to all our customers on the status of Komodo 5.1 MP, but to make a short story long Larry has been in the hospital for a while and has just returned yesterday. That has hurt our schedule significantly. The good news in this is that he will be ok.
We actually have something we could release right now which is robust and the MP implementation appears to scale well and I was planning on releasing it today despite the unexpected personal issues but we have decided against it because some longer time control tests show it to be weaker than we expected. At hyper-blitz it proved to be equal to Komodo 5 but that is not the case with 2 minute tests. This is single core of course.
I know this will be disappointing to many of you but I would rather you be disappointed by a delay than due to a sub-standard product. We do expect the delay to be short, hopefully just a few days.
We did many MP tests showing that it scales reasonably, even going from 4 cores to 8 cores gives around 35 ELO.
Going from 1 to 4 cores gives about 130 ELO. For comparison, under identical conditions Critter gets 137 ELO. Both tests were with 8000+ games where the error margin was about 5.5 plus or minus. When it's released we will find out a lot more as it gets tested. It's my feeling that the MP is reasonable but not great but we will be working to improve that.
Here is general wording on the mass emailing we will do shortly, the exact wording may be somewhat different but this gives the main points:
The release of Komodo 5.1 MP will be delayed due to some circumstances
beyond our control. Co-author Larry Kaufman has had an extended stay
in the hospital, and has just returned home and is resting. Fortunately
he will be ok.
We would like to provide a status report however and assure you that
it will be forthcoming very soon. The current release candidate is
robust and the MP performs well. However the single core strength is
not up the level that we demand and have promised. We do not want to
release a program that we ourselves consider substandard.
Our internal testing reveals that it is about the same strength as
Komodo 5 when running at hyper blitz time controls but well short of
Komodo 5 at blitz and beyond.
We know that many of our loyal customers and supporters have been
looking forward to this for some time, so please except our humble
apologies.
For those of you who have pre-ordered Komodo 5 MP, an email will be
sent with a download link as soon as it becomes available.

Capital punishment would be more effective as a preventive measure if it were administered prior to the crime.
