The problem is that this isn't Stockfish 8 but an earlier version.
I'm going to use iPad Pro primarily for chess analysis on the go.
Currently, what's the strongest engine for iOS for analysis?
Does SmallFish use the 64bit version of Stockfish or the 32bit version? And does it use all the cores?

I'm waiting patiently to buy Komodo for iOS when it's released. I prefer Komodo to Stockfish.
Yes it is an earlier version of Stockfish, this is Stockfish 5!

The strongest engine which can run on iOS is CFish -> https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com/CFish
https://github.com/syzygy1/Cfish
https://github.com/syzygy1/Cfish/releases -> Stockfish 8 = (CFish 8 is much much faster).

SmallFish is using 64bit but only 1-5 cores, it's up to you, and not 6 cores.

Why asmfish ? Is it better/stronger than Stockfish ?

It's 30%!! faster than Stockfish = it's better/stronger.
But asmfish doesn't run on iOS.
You can use armfish https://github.com/lantonov/asmFish/tre ... tables/ARM -> asmfish = (armfish can run on iOS).

Disclaimer: I own many apple products and do believe they have the best product packaging in the market. 😉

( although true, that was meant to be funny -who really cares about the packaging - besides Apple)

Actually, they have so good a packaging that I never unpack their products.

Asmfish is supposed to be Stockfish written in assembly code (closer to what computer reads). This makes it about 30% (I'm guessing) faster than Stockfish and thus stronger.
