Hi Dom,

I published the settings a few times but my posts about them are maybe best searched in the Forum Searchfunction typing in "Toga Checkov" which was the original name, although Michael Gurevich told me this is neither in German or in English a regular spelling of the Russian Чехов, but the reference is also a bit to "check"of course, and it was really a Toga version to solve one of Michael's testpostions in CSS by I believe Valery Chechov (or Chekhov, Chekov) But Ulysses' Star Trek interpretation of the name, Toga Chekov without the second c is also okay of course! Goes well with the Betazoid Rebels etc. and I also made up a story of a chessprogrammer on board Mir I believe that Pavel Chekov aboard the Enterprise refers to as one of his ancestors and he is supposed to have written Toga Checkov! Or something like that, well I'm sure there must be a nice SF story in there somewhere...

Anyway, the settings here are I believe the same as used in later Toga 3.1.2SE Chekov:

http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopi ... ht=checkov

There is also a version with the same settings precompiled but not based on 3.1.2SE that is called Toga Checkov Beta 3 and of which Denis Mendoza made a fast compile, his compile can be found in this thread:

http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/discuss ... f=7&t=2992

Being based on another Toga (Toga II 1.4 Beta 5c from Thomas Gaksch) slightly influences the playing style, but this Beta 3 version was MP capable so I think that version is more interesting for multicore processors. Maybe Toga Checkov Beta 4 is a bit better but then Toga CMLX by Teemu came out and I started some experiments with that, so Beta 4 is not currently developed further, apart from some very irregular appearances on Playchess  and there is no public compile of that version available, there were already many different versions, but mainly my reasoning was that Toga Checkov Beta 4 is not different enough from Beta 3.

Sorry, I have to correct myself because the Checkov 2k settings were not quite the same as the settings for Toga 3.1.2SE Checkov, Ulysses made a pgn on Rybka forum but it is no longer accessible

http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... l?tid=2994

But I hope these were the correct settings, I made so many variations that it was not so easy to locate the ones in the final version.

The following are the Toga 3.1.2SE Checkov Settings:

Hash = 128 [256 Mb for Analysis, less for Blitz games]
Search Time = 0 [Default]
Search Depth = 0 [Default]
BookFile = performance.bin [Default, but not in use because the Shredder book is used as a "neutral" book]
Bitbases Path = <empty> [Default = C:\egbb5\egbb\]
Bitbases Cache Size = 16
NullMove Pruning = Always [Default]
NullMove Reduction = 3 [Default]
Verification Search = Always [Default]
Verification Reduction = 6 [Default = 5]
History Pruning = true [Default]
History Threshold = 70 [Default]
Futility Pruning = true [Default]
Futility Margin = 125 [Default = 100]
Extended Futility Margin = 325 [Default = 300]
Delta Pruning = true [Default]
Delta margin = 55 [Default = 50]
Quiescence Check Plies = 2 [Default = 1]
Material = 102 [Default = 100, Checkov 1 started with with Material = 95]
Piece Activity = 103 [Default = 100]

King Safety = 125 [Default = 100]
Pawn Structure = 105 [Default = 100]
Passed Pawns = 105 [Default = 100]
Toga Lazy Eval = true [Default]
Toga Lazy Eval Margin = 245 [Default = 200, Checkov 2 =240]
Toga King Safety = false [Default]
Toga Extended History Pruning = true [Default = false]

Changes from default:

[OPTIONS]
Verification Reduction=6
Futility Margin=125
Extended Futility Margin=325
Delta Margin=55
Quiescence Check Plies=2

Yes, I think so but maybe some small changes will be better because the programs will not be exactly the same. Especially the different settings here from versions 2k and 3.1.2SE can give an indication which differences I would try first myself regarding Checkov settings on other Togas. It would need some experimenting but that is what the settings are there for! And for the latest Togas from Jerry Donald I really would not know what works best, so that is unexplored territory!
