I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I were you, that's why it was a free beta. Does the latest version do that?

I know but I would never expect rybka loosing this game. I was just surprised with this reversal of situation.

PS : At blitz game, every program can make stupid mistake. In a previous game, Spike was not able to mate his opponent's king with knight and bischop, he was always trying to mate it in the wrong corner...

It seems that Thinker is going to win my tournament this time.

Rybka 2.3.2a has bugs that may cause it to give away wins and lose draw positions. No program is perfect, not even the strongest one.

Excluding Togas, so is Thinker the strongest freeware engine? Or is it still Rybka 1.0? In one tournament, it is said Glaurung is the current strongest, in other tournament from CCRL Fruit 2.3 still leads.... In many blitz tournaments, Thinker is ahead. :?

I think that Toga is still the strongest free engine on a single CPU being slightly better than Rybka 1.0 64bit. Rybka is still better than all the others on single thread AFAIK. When it comes to 4 cpu I would say Glaurung should starting showing its real colors and is probably only behind the Togas.

On my slow hardware, I can't tell which engine is the strongest. I think it must be Fruit, Rybka or Toga but they seems equally strong. Spike and Glaurung are also very good.

Some more games later with my tournament, and there are so many changes in the ranking :

You can switch off those data graveyards in Arena, in the PGN options. I think it is called "save variations to PGN" or similar (meaning the engine PVs). You will notice that your new PGN files are suddenly much smaller. Thanks!

Golem, you are not using the 64bit version of Rybka are you? In that case Toga and few other engines are already ahead of the 32bit version.

Thanks for the tips, I will switch off this option.

No, I'm not using the 64 bit version of Rybka. I've played this tournament on a 32 bits computer.
By the way, where can I find this 64 bits beta version of Rybka 1.0 ? Is it a "legal" version (approved by Vas) ?
