Does the fact, that it is solved, mean that YOU (or any usual checkers program) would play perfectly?

My point:
I think a lot of people have tendency to lose motivation when they happen to find that the game is "solved" by a computer. It's finished. They move on to other games that are more challenging.

The game of checkers is not totally solved. Chinook and other "Big-Iron" computer programs play at a higher level than you can get from Mr. Fierz and his brilliant associates. They can be drawn but I have not done it. I lose consistently to the programs you mentioned.

What you meant to say is; Why bother?.....you will not be able to beat most of these programs. There are many weak checker programs that can be beaten by moderately strong checker players.
Most are freeware or shareware.
