I just sort of barely glanced over these threads. Since I noticed all the sarcasm, and not being a big fan of riddles, it is either a UCI engine that you can download and use, or it isn't. So I give up- what's the deal on it?

Sorry sir, I'm totally forbidden of sarcasm when in duty.

We are talking about a normal UCI engine programmed by Ma Chao. And it is the only such engine made in China. Hence this thread?

Yes, you can download it and use it with any normal interface. Here is the link to the 32 bits windows version:

Thanks. I tried to find it in one of Leo's tournaments, but I guess I am overlooking it. I wanted some kind of idea of it's strength. I have no idea why the figure 2175 comes to mind.

Thanks again,

george

Version 1.0.6 is near the bottom of Leo's rating list.

224 CmcChess 1.0.6 1099 156 185 66 6% 1828 3%

In between Neurone V (1101) and Chad's Chess (983).

I am not sure how much stronger the new version is. I tried it against my modest Tony's Chess (approx. 1500 in ChessWar), and my program won no problem. CmcChess doesn't appear to have a quiescence search; the score jumps around from ply to ply.

Edit:

I did a very quick test. Cmc 2.27 defeated Neurone VIII, Marquis 0.16 (1216 WBEC), and AviChess (1247 WBEC), and lost to Nanook 0.16 (1285) and Nero 6.1 (1361). So it appears to be stronger than the 1.0.6 version.... maybe 1250ish?

Hello Dear Maestro George !

That's because - I'm sure - in 2175 will be my 223-rd anniversary ! YOU are my guest of honour ! Well , I don't know exactly the location of this my anniversary ! -:)

Maestro George , being extremely thrilled about a possible/most likely English grammar mistake (Maestro H.G. Muller hunts me all around the WinBoard Milky Way -:)) here are my modest information:

==============================================

In the 18-th WBEC Nuclear War Division between chess engines:

224 CmcChess 1.0.6 1099 156 185 66 6% 1828 3%
==============================================

Well , 1099 ELO isn't a big amount ( compare for example with ME - Herr SilvianR !!!!) , but it's just the version 1.06. Maybe now is a top engine !

Maestro George , have the supreme weekend !
SilvianR :wink:

PS: hoping all is understandable/readable for Maestro HGM ! Huhhh , I'm terrorized ! -:)
