Actually this is a "duo first". Your first engine and my 1st 64bit match. I am running 40/3 repeating, 128mb hash- I'm not big on egtb, but unless Texel's opponent accesses them, they won't be used. Only 3 & 4 man Nalimov. I think he does, but it doesn't matter. Running on only 1 core for each, as I assumed yours is not MP. I really could not figure out who to run Texel ag.- so I listened to the thoughts about its strength diff. from CuckooChess, and adding to that- I thought Texel 64-bit would be a good opponent for ZapChess Paderborn. I am really impressed with Texel's time management, tho most I think know that there are no engines in existence that manage time worse than a Cozzie engine.
I just loaded Textel and picked from what was auto-loaded when I installed Fritz 11 on this 64bit quad and came up with Paderborn.
I will be posting the results in the Tournament and Matches section here, so watch out for the results. And of course I will have the PGNs available for you upon request.
It is early, but Texel is leading 3 - 1, with 5 draws. (I have 375 32bit engines loaded on my other box, and I have to install some of them, and also a truckload of 64bit engines I have to install.) But I made an exception here. Because it is your first- I wanted to check time mgt. and stability as well as its strength. And I think PGNs would likely tell you a good bit.
If I stop it at 20 games or so, I can most likely post the results in an hour or so. If i go ahead and let it run my standard 50-game match, it would be after I sleep shortly and then get back to check the results. If that is the case, it would be probably 12 hours from now. (I am in the USA- Louisiana, and I have been up all nite. So I cannot wait long, and it will finish as I sleep.)
At any rate, I wanted you to be aware and look out for the match. So far, stability and time mgt. have been spectacular for Texel. And in strength, it aint no slouch there either.
Best regards,
