This has been analyzed in various places, including Mueller and Lamprecht's book Fundamental Chess Endings. 44. .. Re3 allows Black to draw. The key line is .. Re3 45. Rc7 Re8 46. b7 Rb8 47. Kd3 Kf5 48. Rxf7+ Kg4 49. Rf4+ Kxg3 50. Rb4 g5!.

This seems quite deep. I played around with Houdini a bit but couldn't get it to clearly prefer .. Re3 or show a draw score.
