40 games
Movei scored 24.5
simple math tells me that petir scored 15.5 and also if you count the points you can find that it scored 15.5

I think that the difference is small and the number of games that were played are not enough to get a conclusion about which version is best.

I played more games that lead me to believe that 403 10 10 10 is better than the default version but I also did not play enough games so I hope to see some results by the ccrl.

Note that I claimed that 403 10 10 10 performed better than 418 10 10 10 against fruit but it did not prevent 418 10 10 10 to score more than 50% against 403 10 10 10 in my tests so I am really unsure if 403 10 10 10 is better than 418 10 10 10.

hopefully CCRL will give me some data.

I believe that 403 10 10 10 is better than the default version and the same for 418 but again I do not have enough data and again I hope other testers will test 403 10 10 10 because when I release a new version sometimes later I would like to compare with better personality of 403.

Yes Petir score should have been 15.5, it is hard at this moment for me to conclude anything at all, but I am not having such a great result with progress 10 10 10. I would almost say that progress 4 6 10 is equal to progress 10 10 10. I will continue to test these two configurations for anothe 300 games against the same number of opponents.

Note that I believe that progress 10 10 10 is weaker than fruit2.0 and it was simply lucky in the match that it won but still 403 default had never that type of luck and 403 progress 10 10 10 also beated 403 default in my games with fixed number of nodes.

Note that result in 100 game match can be changed at different matches(different positions or different time control) and a program can win 51-49 in one match and lose 59-41 in another match when the average result is 46 points.

Yes you are correct to say that in 100 game match the result changes with different opponents and different time controls. I noticed that progress 10 10 10 scored only 48% vs Petir 439 in 100 games at 5/1 minutes, while progress 4 6 10 scored 53% versus Petir 439 and versus Colossus 2007a progress 10 10 10 scored 47% and with progress 4 6 10 it scored 52%. Finally versus RebelUci Movei 403 Progress 10 10 10 scored 49% and with progress 4 6 10 Movei 403 scored 52% in 100 game match.

PS: I am noticing that progress 4 6 10 at 5 minutes plus 1 sec bonus per move is scoring better than progress 10 10 10, but I can NOT conclude that it will score better than progress 10 10 10 at different time control.

Uri I just started for the first time to test progress 4 6 10 at slower time control or game at 30 minutes versus Slowchess Blitz WV 2.1 and the result after 6 games are amazing so far:

Re: Movei403 progress 4 6 10 is stronger at slower time

Post by Uri Blass »

your results are good.

In 6 games everything can happen.

In my opinion more amazing is the 9.5:0.5 that the default version got against fruit2.0 in the first 10 games only to lose 9.5:0.5 in the last 10 games of the match.

Thanks for your testing

I admit that I did not test 4 6 10
Here are some results from the ccrl for version 418

see
http://computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404.li ... _length=30

Note that I plan to make 418 faster by adding pawn hash tables
I do not know how much speed improvement I can get from it.
