We don't have to use Playchess or ICC. We can just do it here.
I don't have a playchess account anymore. Suppose I could
create a guest accout? I think this Sunday would work for me.
If we start early in the AM, we could go for 2 min per move and
have one game each day?
yes you could use a guest account
we could play in the Play Chess Cafe
2 minutes per move is OK if we start 5am
you mention Sunday and then say one game per day
do you mean a game on Saturday and Sunday ?? or one game this Sunday and then another one in Two Sunday's?(please remember next weekend it a no go for me)

Steve
I meant one on Saturday and the next on Sunday.
If Thorsten can do it that weekend, I can match him after that
match. Lets see 5 am start and finish at about 9am to 10 am.

Can we start at 6am?

6AM it is
game one ..this Saturday 9/20
game two Sunday 9/21
On Playchess in the Cafe

2 min per move...i assume that is a 2 min avg time per move
or do you mean 2 minutes fixed time per move?
assuming we will be in book for about 9-10 moves ..the first few moves of my dedicated machine out of book will take longer then 2 minutes depending on the time management program for that computer
i of course cannot control this
rarely would we see an older dedicated unit staying in book for more them 18-20 ply
however over the course of the game the average will be 2 minutes or close to it

send me a pm here or email when you are there mentioning your Guest number.. and i will challenge you to a NO CLOCK unrated game
no clock because we do not want the server handing one of us a win on time and ending the game abruptly
you can have White in the first game if you want it
now all i need to know is the computer i will be using
i would like a few days notice so i can set it up and test it ...etc etc
Match Of The Decade Regards

so you are going to accept the challenge Thor?
are we going to show these PC Engine programmers that the oldies can still kick some butt
a challenge from a 2500+ Pc Engine operated by the program author himself
that is hard to turn down
OR..
will you run away and hide in fear and terror?
:P

2 min per move was meant as a discussion point - so average is best.
We can set a more specific TC if your machine is capable?
Say, G/120? Or we can set it at 2 min per move average.

I agree with NO Clock on playchess as the human interface causes
delays.

How about using the Mephisto London 68030 33 MHz ?
The TASC R40 2.2 would be ok but for now I have a thing for the Mephisto.

actually i only have the R40 v2.5(King Program ) and the R30 V2.2
I Could swap eproms to give me an R40 v 2.2 and R30 v 2.5 but these Tasc computers are very expensive and with my luck i would ruin both of them
:o
But the London is a very solid choice
i will check the London this evening but i am fairly certain i can choose G/120

will check back in here later and let you know
prepare for your defeat regards

well so much for being fairly certain
the longest G option i have is G/60
so we will go with 2 minutes per move avg

Hi Steve!

Nice to see that you will use the Lang-Deluxe dedicated in the coming match! :D IMHO the best dedicated in its day and age! Fantastic permanent-memory feature that some of the newer dedicated's still can't match, one of the best function for setting up positions, a nice and informative interface and Lang's best program that even bested the mighty Kaspy in a match, even though it was on a Pentium 90-machine. :)

Back to the point: -There is a way to play all moves in 120 min! You can set it up in the user-programmable level. Just set it to play 0 moves in 2 hours for both parts. There also is a function to select different time for both players, but that's probably superfluous here. The zero tells the computer to play all moves in the specified time. If I remember correctly without testing it on my own machine, you can specify anything from all moves in 1 min, to all moves in 99 hours or something like that.

Good luck in the upcoming match! In order to maximise your chances you could play out this game on your machine; just to give your fine Lang-machine a nice morale-boost before the match. Go London go!

Hi Thorsten!

Nice to see that you will play with Sparky! :D Good luck with the Sparc! One of the few top-computers that I still havn't testplayed a single game with. I have the neatly-looking Reneissance-board, but even though it's prepared internally for a Sparc; I have never managed to find a partner for my Brute force-module.
