Photos of the 2Robot box are now being eagerly shared by Collectors Worldwide

i have two such photos
seems the box is indicating an Estimated(read Guesstimated) USCF Rating of 1800
This is totally inconsistent with Novag's OWN advertising blurbs which indicate a rating of 1850
This indicates that the Robot might indeed be shipping with the Star Beryl program as originally intended
the 1850 would have meant it was shipping with a basically new program

Slightly Ticked Regards

Well after much anticipation the 2Robot arrived at my door steps
wont power up
dead as a door nail..zip..zilch..nada

after speaking with the seller i am told that Novag has made a mistake and is shipping the Robot with the wrong Adaptor for US owners
they are sending the correct adaptor to US Distributors now
i am waiting for the exact specs on the adaptor now from the seller
now as a collector i have every possible adaptor known to man..but there is a catch..

IF i use an adaptor that damages the computer i will invalidate the warranty and if i do nothing then it will probably be a good 2-3 weeks for the adaptor to make the trip from Hong Kong ---->Distributor---->Me

what to do regards

Steve
Novag sent me a European adaptor instead of an English one with my first 2Robot and I received a replacement from Hong Kong in under a week.
In the meantine I used an old Fidelity one that is still used today. I've never used the replacement English Novag adaptor and that's been over twelve months ago!!

Thanks Bryan
i tried using an old Fidelity adaptor but ...no power
also tried several Novag Adaptors ..all to no avail
i did get the display to power on with a Novag Diablo Adaptor ..i made the first move..squares sensed the move..but then i got an ERRARM message and the Arm did not budge an inch
i guess i'm just stuck
Pun Intended Regards

Arrows

Post by sje »

There's the saying that one can always identify the true pioneers as they are the ones with the arrows stuck in their backs.

Seriously, I have grave doubts about buying any consumer electronics item on its initial release, particularly if it's a rush job that goes on sale for the very first time at the start of the holiday season.

I like my Novag Citrine, but in fairness I have to report that it's ROM is on its ninth revision. So let me express my thanks for all of those who bought revisions one through eight who've funded the bug fixes that have resulted in a reliable unit for me.

well i have been buying these things for 30 years ..almost always when first released for sale
most times there are no problems but there is always a few models that come out all bollixed up

now for the Citrine..that was released two years ago and the one i got worked perfectly from the Getgo
so ..if we both die on the same exact day ..this means i enjoyed the computer for two years more then you
the only way you can catch up is to live two years longer then me

Picture Of Perfect Health Regards

Steve
I know that you've probably done this but just incase you've forgot, try resetting 2Robot.
Throw the off/on switch to the middle on position and press the reset button for 15 seconds not just the three as the manual says.
You remember what happened when I upgraded the Citrine software.

Thanks Again..i appreciate the help Bryan

just tried..zip ..nada
now i betcha i screwed up the computer with the Diablo adaptor
nothing at all ..no display even(i guess your enjoying this Edwards)
you know..i have been lucky with some of the most defective chess computer models ever sold
computers like the Fidelity Travel Master and Excalibur Mirages
the two most defective computers ever sold
have two TM's and one of each Mirage...never a problem
but with these Armed Robots its been nothing but trouble for me
I've had three Adversaries and all crapped out in 1-2 hours of playing time and now this ..

0Robot Regards

Clearly the Gods are punishing you for some sins you have even forgotten.
Ask your rabbi or even an irish priest.

I even that fails, I am sure you can find a good bar to get drunk regards
