there are compiled executables included in the download
look under -> /src/Release and /src/Debug

i took a quick look at the project file, it's been compiled with VC++ 9, and the Release version has been optimized (whole program optimization, etc.)...

Norm, im not trying to be cute here, but i dont have a degree in computer science. So i dont know a thing about looking at source codes as you described above. I looked per your above instructions and it may as well have been written in Chinese. (No offense to Chinese people, for God's sake) I have no idea how to find an executable in all that jumbled up code. All i need is an exe and any other needed files to put in an engine folder and load. Help me out here please. Think of it as leading a blind person around.

Thanks and Best,

Hello Graham and George, if you are referring to Bill's Mad Prune here I would wait a bit for the compile that Denis promised on page 1 of this thread. His Intel compiles are about twice as fast as a regular MSVC!

Maybe Bill's optimized MS Visual C++ 2008 does better but nowhere near what Denis can wring out of the code. Position learning is disabled in this version I believe so it could be tested for CCRL that way, for individual tests maybe the learning can be switched on again, Dr Deeb and others are maybe interested in the learning functions most!

Mad Pruning Regards,

Eelco

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Hello; I downloaded madprune from TDBB and tried to install the enclosed exe in fritz 8 as a UCI engine to play against. The engine would not load or even open in DOS command prompt as it should. Could someone tell why this occured? My comp is a HP centrino duo intel. Is this engine not compatible with Intel based processors? Any info will be greatly appreaciated. Respectfully, all the best, Joe Louvier

Thanks and Best,
in the subdirectory /etc/Release there is 1 file that ends with .exe ...
-> TheMadPrune 1.1.13_Msoft.exe

this is the file you need....

maybe you should wait, Joe L. has indicated it's not working.
i just tried, doesn't work here either...niether on Pentium IV or Intel Xeon.

Glad to know that nobody else is having any success either. :wink:

Sorry guys for the slight delay. My compiling pc was with my youngest daughter, as it's also her Satellite TV (using DVB-card). Bonding with kids watching Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network sometimes relaxes us parents. I have to skip compiling for another day!

Here's the builds (with and without icon):
