CR,

No you can't. The Citrine uses the relatively primitive onboard CPU and not the quad or octal CPU made by Intel and others. The Citrine has a 2300 rating and Rybka is approaching 3000. The Citrine only plugs into the PC for the purpose of recording moves and games.

I know of no wi-fi wood chess board on the market.

It would be possible to have a WiFi wood board that interfaces with a quad or higher central computer over a distance of 50 ft. or through a fast internet connection. This would probably be easy to do for less than $500.00 if we left the OLED display off.

You can buy that now. Purchase a Novag Citrine and connect it to
a PC via the USB port. Also, one can use wireless USB to connect
the two. There are videos of this setup on YouTube .

Correct Charles
in fact Mike B(legendary hall of fame moderator of the CCC )was one of the first to show how to connect the Citrine to Arena wirelessly
a search of his posts here will show the thread
he even included a home made video where he takes the Citrine on a tour of his house and sits down in a different room away from the PC and plays against Rybka(might have been some other PC engine)
Le Citrine when connected to Arena(instructions are provided on Novags web site) can play at the speed of your PC using any Engine that can be run in Arena

of course as a hardcore dedicated chess computer collector i am not even allowed to attempt this

XXX Hardcore Regards

yes. 500$ for rybka in a wooden dedicated chess computer with
at least palm alike hardware would be an appropriate price.

it should allow PC connection via bluetooth or usb or lan.

it should show main informations in a LCD or OLED screen.

it should save the game. and be upgradable via software update.

why not ?

500 is ok.

1000 is IMO to much.

I don't know where you get your info but it is incorrect. I have a
Citrine and I have played against several Winboard and UCI engines
via the Citrine. My son plays against Xadreco via the Citrine and
wins, but doesn't win agains Marquis. My son is 11 and rarely plays.
He has been playing much more due to my Citrine as an interface
to Arena and the engines that can be run on my laptop.

I have also played the Citrine against the engines
in a fully automated mode. This tends to take repeated attempts
to get it to work. It seems to be a timing issue that I haven't
resolved enough to get 100% repeatability. But, the playing against
Arena engines via the Citrine works every time.

So, it is far more useful than you suggest.

Hell no. All i would have then is a stand-alone i can't even draw. Unless it is dumbed down. What i would almost die for is a unit with really nice tournament size (3.5 inch king) wooden pieces on a beautiful board that played from 1200 elo on up to around 2400 elo (with position learning) that was not dumbed down to the point it was ridiculous- and that you could really gauge your progress as you improved. When it comes to chess- i just dont care much for something to put out just to be looked at. Many do tho- and i do not begrudge them that. Each to his own.

Actually one can as i think you already know
:o
the Revelation can use UCI Engines wirelessly and will run at the speed of the host computer
two glitches though..
1.only UCI engines with books built into the Exe file will play with an opening book
2.there is a bug that will limit the moves played to 30

both of these limitations are being worked on even as we speak

Its always something Regards

A dedicated that would let you load other UCI engines. In the world of my finances, I'm not sure i could even afford to muster up a dream! I might be forced to borrow the money from Fernando. As much as he has- he would never miss 500 0r 600 dollars.

Thanks Fern Regards,
