Hi Ernest,
I think Clemens uses an optimal setup:
- Thinker runs inside Arena with ponder on
- with the autoplayer Arena is connected to the Chessbase GUI
- inside Chessbase winboard232.exe configured as an engine connects the server..

Hi Werner,
OK, I think I did not understand what Clemens meant with his "adapter" in the sentence: "and the second PC runs the adapter and the CB gui."
If this means winboard232, there is indeed no problem.

By Winboard adapter, I meant the old ChessBase ENG adapter, which is the only way in Fritz/ChessBase GUI to obtain, for Thinker, display of evals and depth, but that performs much worse, for Thinker, than the wb2uci adapter.
My apologies Ernest. I did not know that this is what you meant. I would never use that old adapter. Anybody who does is certainly handicapping Thinker.
I haven't used Arena 2.0 yet, so can't help you on that one.

Regards, Graham.
