I have the following problem with ChessGUI:

I play a tournament chess960 between AICE 0.99.2 and DanaSah 3.97b

Time managent 40/240+40/240+40/120 as CCRL FRC

DanaSah uses a very simple time managent

240 / 40 = 6 s (this is the time by move)

But the first move danasah uses about 8s and when she is near the time control on the move 40 uses only 1s, however passes the control with a minute of time.

Why?

In Winboard and Arena the time is constant and close to the 6s

It seems that ChessGUI used time as game is to finish.

In danasah --> 240 / 30 = 8 s for first move, 232 /30 for second first ...

Best,

Pedro

Hi Pedro,

maybe you mean "40/240+40/240+40/240" ?
Let DanaSah print time used per move immediately before it sends its move to ChessGUI and compare with the times ChessGUI measures in debug file.
Either send me such a modified DanaSah, or 2 debug files and pgn with all time infos in ChessGUI format.
I am confident that ChessGUI manages time correctly.

Matthias.
yes, I mean "40/240+40/240+40/240" this is 40 move in 4 mins repeating time control.

I am looking debug files and I see that I am receiving the command
level 0 4 0.

I think I should receive the command level 40 4 0

I send you debug file.

Best,

Pedro

CCRL FRC has 40 move in 4 mins repeating time control. ChessGUI works fine with that, although I can't comment on DanaSah specifically
Hi Ray,

I'm trying DanaSah with ChessGUI and Chess960 to see if there are problems.

At the moment I took nearly 200 complete games with no time lost or crash, unless the comment made to Matthias.

Perhaps in CCRL-FRC the management of castling of danasah is not well configured and then from there not to play, you can check 2 things, you sould use danasah397b_WB.exe:

1. GUI -> In the file ChessGUI_Engines.txt check config for danasah:

danasah397b_WB::Flags=WB2 960_OO Can_Analyze Remis_Book Private_Book, CommandLine = xboard

2. Engine -> In the file danasah.ini to verify that the gui Chess960 is chessgui, there is a line that should be

gui chessgui

With this danasah should play without problems, I keep trying.

Best,

Pedro

Thanks, I'm sure I had that all correct, but I'll certainly try again and let you know of any issues. I think I do have pgns of some of the games where DanaSah crashed, although not the log files, so that won't be much help. I'll make sure I keep the log files as well this time - they were certainly useful for Richard when he looked at the bug on The Baron 1.7.0

cheers

Hi Pedro and Ray,
I confirm that latest versions of ChessGUI could reset number of moves to 0 in certain situations in second of the 5 TC formats.
That is fixed in ChessGUI 0.132 on my T-Online website and also soon on 110mb.
Only exe file has changed.
Thanks for reporting bug,
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Happens here too.
I use versions 1.2, 1.41, 1.6, 1.83, 2.03, 2.26, 2.44, 3.13, 3.97b.
It is 3.97b that sometimes crashes because "integer divide by 0".
Last time here, it was before first move in normal chess.
It also plays many games without crashing.
Regards,
Matthias.

From my 1200 engines, the ones that crash frequently under ChessGUI in normal chess are :
- several versions of SOS: "integer divide by 0".
- several versions of Little Goliath (I stopped using LG totally)
- only 2 or 3 versions of Xpndnt (other versions are fine)
- DanaSah 3.97b (and 3.13 if I remember well, maybe was now fixed egbb issue)
- 1 version of Dirty, I think

Some few very weak engines also sometime crash or hang after game.

I have now tested ChessGUI 0.132 a few hours after upload and run into problems after first TC.
I have to provide a bugfix for the bugfix in a few hours time.

Correction: all is fine, no bugfix for the bugfix needed :D .

Matthias.

ChessGUI 0.133 is out.

A "level" command had sneaked in between sessions and some WB engines could not tolerate that.
I have played 30 pretty long games at "40moves/1minute repeated", involving 60 WB engines without a problem.
ChessGUI 0.133 has therefore now been uploaded to my T-Online website, and later to 110mb.
I have confidence in ChessGUI 0.133 !

Best,
Matthias.

Hi Matthias,

You can give me a clue when this occurs?

This may occur when DanaSah send information of pv to the GUI? I think I do not have this problem with other GUIs.

I will try to update the pv less and check more often the time.

Best,

Pedro
