I've been running IDeA for over an hour on this with no solution. It does have 1. g5 g6+ as 0.00 but g6+ doesn't appear forced. It has 1. g5 Re1 at -0.56. (Seems like too many pieces for a nice clean study!)
His solution just has moves transposed. I think it should be as follows:

My IDeA has g6+ and d1=Q+ as 0.00, but still has Re1 at -0.48. I lowered the IDeA setting to 1 sec or d=10 and have over 20,000 positions for Re1. Anyone know the key moves after 1. g5 Re1?

From the Rybka forum it was pointed out that Re1 doesn't quite get to 0.00, but the positions reached are dead drawn...

You know what I like about IDeA, is that you do not have to use Rybka, you can use any engine with it.

It's a great analysis tool that comes with the Aquarium GUI. From a given position, it builds a tree of analyzed moves automatically. Lots of info about it over on the Rybka forum.
