Shredder for the Phoenix chess computers

Post by mephisto »

Good news for dedicated chess computer fans as Ruud Martin has announced that the Shredder 11 engine will soon be available for both the Revelation & Resurrection II.

That sounds nice, but my concern is has the "30 game" bug been
fixed? You know the one where you can only play about 30 full games
before the OS looses its marbles and then you can't play a full
game again.

as far as i know the bug is still there
however it should be mentioned that the 30 move bug applies only to games where the engine is running from the PC and loaded into the Rev via Blue Tooth resulting in the moves being displayed on the Revelation board
Engines On-board the Revelation and running from the Revelations hardware do not exhibit the bug.
The SSDF has played 125+ 40/2 games with the Revelation using only on-board engines and eventually rated the computer 2653(Rybka Engine).. and of course you remember we played a 6 game match on ICC (with Telepath winning)and we did not see the bug rear its ugly head

Shredder will be an on-board engine
The other on-board engines are:
Rybka
Fruit
Deep Sjeng
Toga
Ruffian

Sadly No
the chances of an expensive table filled with delicate electronics making its way across the Atlantic to me ..unharmed ..are nil

IF i lived near Ruud (or he near me)..then i would buy it in a heartbeat

Out Of Touch Regards

I wish they would just make these dedicated units handhelds and I will use my own chessboard!
