yes. my opinion too.I like to see the ENGINE do the work, not some pre-prepared sequence of moves.
maybe 10 moves are enough.

Totally agreeTitu wrote: ........ the books should have a limit as well. I say let the engines play as much as possible.

But we already have CEGT and CCRL which use small generic books to test the engine's true strength. Why waste time retesting?Spock wrote:Glad it wasn't - I just think book wins devalue these and other tournaments when they happen, I like to see the ENGINE do the work, not some pre-prepared sequence of moves. With Rybka and some of the other strong contenders not there, Hiarcs stands a good chance of winning this tournament
Thanks for your kind words, Graham. I have to admit that the current HansDamf, which played in Wortel and Leiden is still more 32-bit IsiChess MMX than the initial devoted 64-bit SSE2 HansDamf, which is a color-flipper (flips the board after each move, so the computer is always white to move) and will blow everything awayGraham Banks wrote:Gerd has worked hard over a long period of time, so any success would indeed be well deserved.mclane wrote:exactly.its time for gerd.
