- Standar chess, Wild variants and Chess960 or Random Fischer but without castling
- A simple opening book
- Elegant graphics

Re: New chess applet
I've invested my spare time to improve the graphics rather than the playing strenght. At beginner level the applet when in advantage play random move to let the adversary to regain. At hard level it research at a fixed deep of 6 half moves, i think at this level can be around 1600 elo.

I tried it on hard and must say it is a very sneaky program. Just before I mated it, it mysteriously managed to add a rook on the board. This happened quite a few times. Still buggy I am afraid.

Just a guess - maybe a castling move making/unmaking issue?M ANSARI wrote:... it mysteriously managed to add a rook on the board. This happened quite a few times. Still buggy I am afraid.

What a fantastic board! I do like the way the computer's move is indicated by small circles.ogam wrote:I've made an applet to play chess...
I would like to request a "take back" button, please!
Writing is the antidote to confusion.
It's not "how smart you are", it's "how are you smart".

Re: New chess applet
I don't think so. The position was an endgame where I had a rook and queen and Knight vs. rook and few extra pawns on the board. I was trying to mate it but it kept adding a rook. At first I did a double take since I thought I simply had not seen the other rook since I was also having a chat with my secretary ... but then it did it again and then again. Finally it did not allow me to take the rook with my queen and I simply gave up. More likely it is simply a bug due to implementation of other wild variants that the board also plays.rvida wrote:Just a guess - maybe a castling move making/unmaking issue?M ANSARI wrote:... it mysteriously managed to add a rook on the board. Re: New chess applet
This is the result of an extremely complex algorithm implemented by me emulating the human behavior: it simply don't want to lose!
Seriously, it's a bug that I heard now for the fist time, I'll check.
It's possible to copy and paste (ctrl+c and ctrl+v) the move list on the right of the board once selected (they become light blue), if someone find other bugs please can post here the moves played so I can check.
