Hi, does H12.1 have a large opening book? I find these iPod programs keep repeating the same opening.

From the link posted above:

"HIARCS has a large tournament book of over 1.2 million positions and moves. The book moves are displayed on screen with chess symbols and the opening variations are even named."

"Strongest chess program on iPhone and iPod Touch, genuine strong GM level performance (about 2700 Elo)"

2700 Elo - We all know this is marketing bullcrap!

and i believe harvey said that was played on a 520 mhz device, so the new ipod or the 2nd gen touch would be just as fast or faster.

That was before Pocket Fritz was disqualified for trying to smuggle a human into the playing hall in it's pockets ;)

I do not believe a chess program is 2700 ELO at 500MHZ. In addition, the opening book will be small and there are no endgame tablebases.

This would make a good Hyatt question!
