Couldn't you prepare a Kasparov gambit version capable of running in XP?

Yes I know it is too-much-ask regards

Version 1 of these kind of programs, are probably not that good, and probably have tricks which can beat them.

Perhaps you feel you were really playing well. I think that Genius 1 is quite strong. But Genius might have been a continuation of Psion.

Maybe Hiarcs 1 IS strong. If it is similar to Genius 1, then that seems quite good. But if it keeps doing stupid things, then I don't know if that is considered a standard at all. Mind you, It MIGHT be quite good, if it was commercial.

I thought that Hiarcs got good at verrsion 3, 4 or 5. Hiarcs 5 was already a killer.

Mabe you're ready for Hiarcs 2!
Both Genius 1 and H1 play very poor in the end game.

according to Selective Search ...Nov.1993...

Hiarcs 1/286...2038(75 games...+/- 53)
Hiarcs 1/386 ...2099(106 games...+/- 45)
Hiarcs 1/486 ...2184(252 games...+/- 29)

Hi Doc,

You may need to edit the 'dosbox.conf' text file located in the program folder if you are prevented from making moves in the game (just noticed this)

change line >

Code: Select all

cycles = auto
to >

Code: Select all

cycles = max

changed this but mine keep crashing after a dozen or so not-too-impressive moves.
