This version is a beta-version really and has already a known bug in the evaluation hashtable. The newest version is being debugged as we speak and will include a completely updated openingbook.

New in version 8:

now in addition to Winboard also UCI compatible
I/O multithreading added
Bugfix to the openingbook
Changed the structure of the program again to enable SMP improvements (in future editions)
some small bugfixes

Hi Patrick and Graham,

Thanx for the notice. I just fixed a major error concerning the time management (the WB otim command was impremented incorrectly). But I see there is some more work to do!
So it is a UCI problem. What GUI are you using?

Just to warn you: There appears to be another bug in UCI. Werner noticed that the hashtable isn't set to the correct value. I would like to fix both problems in one upgrade. Perhaps both problems have the same cause (although I am not absolutey sure of that).

Best wishes,
Stephan 8-)

Thank you for benching Swami!

I am really impressed by the performance considering that my personal elo-rating is estimated at 1400-1600 at most! This really proves that you can achieve a lot by tuning variables automatically.

Best wishes,
