This one is one of the best.....

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/lefouduroi/hs-books.htm

There are also many other ones at the Arena website like the ones made by Sedat Canbaz.....

http://www.sedatchess.com/

and Michael Scheidl.....

Harry Schnapp's books are up to date for Arena and the very
best. Christopher posted the link above.

Thanks. - The Balanced-14.abk is intended for engine testing (same book for all) with better variety, but certainly is not among the strongest books... Neither for absolute opening strength, but as an - as I hope - good comprehensive, general opening reference I created another Arena book, from some of Norm Pollock's very good game collections:

http://remixshare.com/get.php?file=98y1zx6wa1 (= NP91-09_2500.abk)

It's based on more than 218,000 high quality IM/GM games. Of course, this can also be used for engine testing. It is quite large, ~142 MB unpacked so it shouldn't be out of book too soon in many common variations. Max. length is 40 plies though, only.

Let's try to put that one up on Arena for you as well. I assume that is ok with both you and Norm?

Hi Dann,

Thank you for the info. But pardon my stupidity, I don't seem to be able to differentiate which opening books are for arena :(

On Sedat's web page. Perfect 10 abk. For Arena.
I think that is the latest one for Arena.

http://www.playwitharena.com/
Go to user files.engines.
click on opening books.(24)
Dann Corbit book is there also.

Hope this helps.

Best.

Gerold.
