I had some problems with Critter running inside Shredder 12 GUI. First I saw very bad results. Then I had a look at the games (played on different pcs). All look the same:
Critter always displays a 0.00 eval. I had this problem not in Arena 2.01. Any ideas what happens??
Hi,
unfortunately I dont have Shredder 12 GUI, but a friend of mine has. I will investigate the issue tomorrow. (just need to figure out how to RDP-connect to his PC)

Yes, MP version should be ready sometimes around april this year. Maybe even sooner, but dont hold your breath.

I tested it as well and I can confirm that in Shredder GUI, Critter always shows 0.00

Ray reports that the same problem occurs under the Shredder 11 GUI.

Really? I never get the problem under the Shredder 12 GUI (I don't think....) Critter just offers a lot of draws in the endgame.

Hi,

I have the same problem here under S12 Gui...
Also there seems to be a problem with time management when playing 40
moves in x minutes it uses al lot off time and then play the last moves very quick, sometimes it ruines a good position then.

Re: Bugfix for Shreder GUI users

Hi,

It is indeed a bug in Critter. When not in multi-pv mode, it is erroneously sending UCI strings like "info multipv 0 depth 2 seldepth 2 nodes 41 nps 0 hashfull 0 score cp 7 pv g1f3 g8f6"

No idea why Shredder interprets this as draw offer.

Hi,
it must be more than only a display problem. See here my result under Shredder GUI:

Code: Select all

1 Deep Sjeng 3.0 w32 1CPU +13/-0/=37 63.00% 31.5/50
2 Critter 0.52 x64 +0/-13/=37 37.00% 18.5/50
Critter had 0 wins!!

Now the same match, same openings under Arena 2.01:

Code: Select all

1 Critter 0.52 x64 2200 +20/-14/=16 56.00% 28.0/50
2 Deep Sjeng3 .0 w32 1CPU 2200 +14/-20/=16 44.00% 22.0/50
This is more than coincidence - here 56% and before 37%
