MP engines are undetermenistic, it is luck of the draw how fast a move is found sometimes. In this case R3 chooses Bh3 at depth 18

On an 8-core machine, the default value for the Minimum Split Depth parameter is now set at 7. Previously it was 4. In my testing, 7 yielded much better performance than 4, at least on my 8-core Mac Pro.
You can easily test if this change is responsible for the improvement you are seeing. Just set the parameter to 4 and see how much the performance drops.
