I use xboard master-2010021 without pasteSelection.
When I go over the O-E-window with left and right butten pressed the selected part becomes dark, but nothing is changed in clipboard. When I
now try to paste to gedit (or vim) the old content is pasted. Not the content from the O-E-window.
Using "-pasteSelection true" didn't help.
Where is the settings file? What is its name?
Sorry I'm stuck.
OS is Ubuntu9.10 64-bit.
kind regards
Bernhard

Re: xboard Problem with multi pv analysis
Two things:
1) Is -pasteSelection really set to false in the .xboardrc file?
2) Did you press Ctrl+C after the selected part gets dark?
You need to press Ctrl+C to transfer the PRIMARY selection to CLIPBOARD (while the EO window is still the active window). And -pasteSelection has to be false.
Pressing the middle mouse button while in Gedit should even paste the selection there if you had not pressed Ctrl+C, irrespective of the setting of -pasteSelection.
For me, this both works in Ubuntu 8.04. I just tried it again.

Re: xboard Problem with multi pv analysis
Ok, now I know about the .xboardrc file in my home dir.
You were right. pasteSelection was set to true. After chaging it to false I can copy and paste somewhat. When I do it the O-A-window is no longer updated. Perhaps I can further investigate the behavior later.
Thank you for your patience.
Kind regards
Bernhard

When you are doing what, exactly? And A-O window is Engine-output window?
It was probably set to true because you used -pasteSelection true once, and it remembers the last setting. It should still have been possible to paste by pressing the middle mouse button, btw. But perhaps the selection does not stay selected long enough to do that.
