Crafty To 27+ Ply

Post by brianr »

I have been stress testing my new system (an OC'd i920) and just let Crafty run with mt 4 for 1,000 minutes (yes, I know, not really that long), but I thought the data might be of interest to some:

Code: Select all

unable to open book file [./book.bin].
book is disabled
unable to open book file [./books.bin].

Initializing multiple threads.
System is SMP, not NUMA.
EGTB cache memory = 32M bytes.
pondering disabled.
book learning enabled
choose from book moves randomly (using weights.)
choose from 4 best moves.
book file enabled.
show book statistics
hash table memory = 32M bytes.
pawn hash table memory = 16M bytes.
pondering disabled.
search time set to 99999.00.

Probably overflowed a counter somewhere along the way, I count nodes as a BITBOARD (64 bit unsigned int) but probably count fail-highs and such as normal 32 bit ints.

I don't like either the French nor the exchange variation of the Ruy.

Yuck.. You should really have separate typedefs for that. Use U64 when you want a number, and BITBOARD when you want a bitboard. Type names are for human readers too =)

I agree and am working on this as we speak to solve this once and forever...
