Re: New Algorithm in Next version of Chessbase
Hi,
Maybe they implemented Quicksort to accelarate the search in databases I wouldn't wonder as in Fritz 10,11 they "improved" Alph-Beta according to the flyer attached to the program.

Hello Sir Miky !
For sure ChessBase needs to surpass the features of Arena GUI ! Not nice , but that's the capitalism ! One must dead !
I like Arena !
Yours friend ,

Re: New Algorithm in Next version of Chessbase
The new algorithm clearly refers to the problem of calculating the elo performance of a player that wins all his games in a tournament.

Why do you copy and paste directly from the Chessbase website, we can all read what is there.AdminX wrote:"After discussion with experts we have decided to implement a new algorithm in the next version of ChessBase."

No, it is a discussion forum and you are not discussing you are copying and pasting information, i.e. parroting!AdminX wrote:This is a discussion form, people may wish to discuss the topic.Sean Evans wrote:Why do you copy and paste directly from the Chessbase website, we can all read what is there.AdminX wrote:"After discussion with experts we have decided to implement a new algorithm in the next version of ChessBase."

Re: New Algorithm in Next version of Chessbase
It looks like they are going to introduce a draw prior into performance calculations, same like Remi did in Bayeselo a few years ago. This would indeed be an improvement over the existing algorithm. However this will introduce a new variable: a number of added draws. Do you add 1 draw always? or 2 draws, 0.5 of a draw? (Bayeselo defaults to 2 draws) Ideally they should provide a way to configure this number (and allow non-integer values).AdminX wrote:"After discussion with experts we have decided to implement a new algorithm in the next version of ChessBase."

Also, for consistency the draws prior will have to be used for non-100% performances too, and this will create some confusion.
You can bet they'll announce that they invented this "new" algorithm (or that Ken invented it for them).
One alternative is to just show "+Inf" for 100% performance, like we do in KCEC and CCRL sites. This avoids unnecessary confusion like "How on Earth this 100% converts to +549 points performance?" (Even though we use prior draws for other performances).

Not trolling, just stating the facts, you post a lot here, but add very little meaningful input, just background noise.AdminX wrote:Well get use to it, go troll with someone else.Sean Evans wrote:No, it is a discussion forum and you are not discussing you are copying and pasting information, i.e. parroting!AdminX wrote:This is a discussion form, people may wish to discuss the topic.Sean Evans wrote:Why do you copy and paste directly from the Chessbase website, we can all read what is there.AdminX wrote:"After discussion with experts we have decided to implement a new algorithm in the next version of ChessBase."
