Difficult to say but 256Mb or 512Mb should be quite safe bet.

Re: What is good hash size for sf 1.8
Hi Steven,
20+0 = 20 minutes
~ move average with resign = 70 moves (after 20.000 ATL games)
~ move average without resign = 85 moves (after 30.000 SWCR games)
20 minutes = 1.200 seconds
1.200 : 70 moves = average 17.1 seconds per move
1.200 : 85 moves = average 14.1 seconds per move
General assumption: average second per move x2
70 moves = 34.2 (hash should be full)
85 moves = 28.2 (hash should be full)
Now, you have to test it ...
Your hardware is important.
x64 or w32, how many cores ...
If you play with resign factor:
Need SF longer as 34.2 seconds for filling the hash-tables or not, the main question!
If yes = you should test it with 256Mb hash.
I think 256Mb for actual hardware / 1 Core is enough.
For a test you can used the Shredder Classic GUI. Here you can see how long the engine need to fill the hash-tables.
Important is:
Test it with an endgame position.
Hash-Tables are more important in endgame positions as in middlegame positions.
In my bad English, hope this helps.
Best
Frank

Hi,
see my other message.
With 4 cores around factor 3.2 faster, compare to 1 core.
In this case 512Mb, possible 768Mb ...
Easy to test, read the other message.
I think 768Mb with x64 and 4 Cores.

What about Long (12 - 24 hours) Infinite analysis with 4 threads. Fot this, I normally use 1 gig of hash. Would 2 gig work better, or not make much difference?
