Achieving a grandmaster norm against the top programs

Post by Amstaff »

Would this be possible, assuming no anti-computer play? This is hypothetical of course.
First we would have to know the Elo of the programs, then score a certain number of points according to FIDE guidelines, plus other considerations

This would be impossible, wouldn't it?
Far easier to play human GM's and to win enough games to get a GM norm.
I don't think one can win enough games vs top computer program, without cheating.
I doubt that even Kasparov in his prime could get a computer gm norm vs rybka 4, even on an old laptop.

You do not need to win games against programs to achieve the grandmaster norm against the top programs assuming that fide allow them to compete and get the GM title.

3.5/10 against programs with average rating above 2710 is enough to acieve the GM norm

That's nice. 7 draws and 3 losses. IF it would be accepted, which it isn't. Correct?

No

If you play against humans with average of 2710 or better and get 7 draws and 3 losses then it means that you achieved the GM norm based on the fide rules.
