Stockfish crashes when analyzing this EPD @ long time contrl

Post by Dann Corbit »

64 bit, version 1.8 using 4 CPUs @ 3 GHz, 512 MB RAM

Does it also fail for everyone else (around ply 30)?

No, though I used 8 threads. I suspect it's not reproducible; can you get it to crash again? If so, the SF team would be happy to hear from you. Well, maybe not happy ...

On an identical machine, using 1 GB hash, it seems to work fine.

No, though I used 8 threads. I suspect it's not reproducible; can you get it to crash again? If so, the SF team would be happy to hear from you. Well, maybe not happy ...

{snip}
It crashed 3 times in a row on the other machine, but I won't be able to test it again tonight.

Interesting. Very occasionally SF crashes on me, after long search. Never been able to reproduce. Perhaps the crash is more frequent when hash table space is limited. I use 2GB by default.

False alarm:
Someone else was dialing in from home and terminating the engine so that he could get CPU cycles on the machine.
