Judging by early Ipon results they should maybe redefine breakthrough to like any improvement for more than 5 elo ;).
Ouch. So, like, they just released it because they could?

BTW, does anyone know if this version can play in tournaments with the Ippos?

New and strongest ever Deep Junior chess engine, a generation ahead in strength over Deep Junior 11.x
2010.10.30
Engine added - Deep Junior 12 - 2100 games
12 Elo increase for the latest release, but it played 2100 games without a crash
Taken from http://www.inwoba.de/index.html

Something is wrong here, a generation ahead should be worth more than 12 elo surely

Perhaps there is a bug in the released engine :?:

I am running a DJ12 vs DJ11.2 1000 game 1 minute blitz match right now with ponder on and each engine using 2 cores. so far I see a 12 elo TP over DJ11.2

Dosen't make sense to me to release it with only 12 elo describing it as a generation ahead. It will be interesting to see your results after the 1000 games finish. I would have expected DJ12 to show a bigger improvement against DJ11.2 in a head to head though than against other opponents..

My results for Deep Junior 11.1a were better than for Deep Junior 11.2, so hopefully things aren't going backwards. :o

Yikes ?!
I am a huge fan on Junior and have purchased every version from 5-11. However, in the past each new version offered something new. Why would Amir and Shay release the engine with no real improvements? This seems very strange to me, very strange indeed!

Respectfully, and after some more time-consuming tests, speak quietly, Junior is dead.
