If you look at the latest CEGT 40/20 rating list, it seems that on Quad (900 games), Junior 12 is indeed an improvement:

Code: Select all

Deep Junior 12 x64 4CPU 3012 18 18 900
Deep Junior 11.1a x64 4CPU 2970 18 18 892
Deep Junior 11.2 x64 4CPU 2966 17 17 999

Hah!! It plays like Junior like no other program does. It is defintely not dead. It's style, like Chess Tiger is wonderful. Appreciate it for what it is.

I love Junior! In many ways I learn a lot about OTB from Junior!

Is there a UCI version of Chess Tiger??

Yes - through Lokasoft.
Not sure about the limit strength feature though. I'll look.

Doesn't seem to have a limit strength feature, just an anti-human option.

Thanks for checking on that Graham! I will probably not buy it. I really like having the limit strength feature to play against. (which is why I am super happy about Deep Junior 12!!)

Hi !

Chess Tiger 2004 comes with this feature ( trainer levels ) ! A very nice one ! It's one of my favourite training chess program ! And yes , it's also UCI ! Take a look here :
http://www.lokasoft.com/chess_tiger_2004
Unfortunately Lokasoft stoped the sales of this nice product !
Something similar for ChessGenius , Richard Lang still sells ChessGenius Classic. But the best is Mephisto Genius 99 ! Like features , of course !
I think it's a marketing problem-not everybody likes the strength. Are you an over 2500 ELO player ? Congratulations !

Tiger regards,
 Silvian von Iasi

So I looked for Mephisto Genius 99 and couldn't find it for sale. I am definitely not over 2500 (or for that matter even near it) which is why I like engines that have the limit strength feature. I have thought about purchasing Chess Genius by Richard Lang. So it does have different levels of play?
