i'm with you there Steve, there's no excuse! this is a respectable forum!
bunch of no good for nothings is what they are!
ill take your reply to mean this is actually where you dont agree with me
:P
Unregistered Lurkers its not meant as a derogatory term
its simply a statement of fact
unregistered guests(if that makes you less offended ) and what they can or cannot read is just not something i personally worry about as moderator
the only slight inconvenience is when for whatever reason a member chooses to log on as a guest and not a member
but that would only be a temporary situation and the member can always log on at a later date and catch up on what he/she missed

as a native English speaker, I'm not aware of any context in which 'lurking' can be used in a positive manner...?

perhaps you and Graham (w/ maybe Peter Skinner & Chris Conkie) can develop some kind of 'vetting' process to weed out these undesirable trolls...

wait this sounds all too familiar...
aren't you all doing that already, maybe in some limited sense?
i seem to remember reading posts about that.

now its me and Graham/Skinner and Conkie
lol
somehow i dont think those guys would want to be on the same team with me
just the other day i was accused of siding with someone against Graham or i am pro Rybka or anti-Rybka
Skinner was here complaining about our moderation just the other day
just the way it goes these days
i am at the point that i gauge my neutrality on these issues by the number of times i am accused of bias from both sides
using that as a rule i think I'm pretty neutral actually

i will tell you this Norm
Graham or Skinner or Conkie and i have had absolutely NO contact regarding any issues this term especially moderation issues..we just don't communicate with each other
believe what you want but that's simply the way it is

oh ..and i forgot to comment on you quoting me saying this is the Premiere CC forum on the net
ill quote Sarah Palin in reply to that

You Betcha Regards

I think it's obvious to most members where most of the personal attacks and insults come from.

It's a shame they don't stay there and pollute that forum with their crap instead of this one.
Banks,

Is there an individual like yourself from any other computer chess forum who goes out of his way trying to delegitimize chess engines -- posting feces picture to depict the engines?! And at one point even quiting the forum because public discussion of a new engine was allowed? I don't think so.
Oh how exciting. My number one stalker yet again.

Steve B wrote: i will add my two cents in here ..
as to the creation of the EO forum
while i was not a moderator at the time ..my understanding is that the creation of this forum was not Graham's idea alone but rather a compromise that was reached by Graham..the other Mods and the TCADMIN..
who exactly came up with the idea first i couldn't say and i dont think is important really
this was done in an effort to appease all 3 moderators who were all on the verge of quitting or threatening to quit ..Graham too was ready to resign before the compromise was reached..and all this after one moderator had resigned already
i have no reason to believe otherwise and i believe this to be the case now
It's all there in the hidden mods forum Steve.
The EO subforum was not my idea, but when it was suggested at the time, all of the CCC and CTF mods agreed to it.
You could easily confirm this.

Why is there anything to hide in the first place?? This is chess for god sakes. LURKERS !!! omg ....cover the children's EYES ! Whats to LURK after thats so important that it must be hid in CHESS ????`You know how ridiculous that sounds. Don't let the casual chess player come here by all means and see everything related to chess because there is X rated chess stuff here that must be hid. Just when you thought you heard it all. Guess if you wanna see the porno section of this chess forum you must register so they know for sure kids are not laying their eyes on something that might hurt them. Brilliant.

I did review the Mod forum and i do see that everybody agreed to it
i didn't see who first suggested the idea but as i said before i dont think that makes any difference..

the CTF has been viewable only to registered members for years now
