like i said before Bill
i simply could care less what unregistered / guests/lurkers /whatever can or cannot read
the CTF has been viewable only to registered members for years now
no biggie..not to me
you sign up..you get it all

This doesn't answer my question ...Why is there anything to hide in the first place? Again this is chess ....a game we play. Ethics you may say? Even if you try to use that excuse ....whats been proven with Ippolit? Seems to me BB did the most research and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt Ippo is no CLONE. The best that could be said would be a derivative and even thats not proven....so ethics becomes a weak excuse. What i think is unethical is hiding something not even proven to be what its being hid for in the first place ....again brilliant. Actually its ashame ChesUSA would stab chess in the back and hide anything for every single person registered or not from being seen based on nothing. We play the game for fun and sport. The site should keep it about the game not a bunch of what if's. Open chess keeps it simple ....go there ...see all ...talk chess if you want and they dont try to get caught up in outside of chess things....simple. Maybe you guys should make the casual LURKER aware there is even a sub forum here by posting it up above so them lurkers can see they are NOT seeing it all the second they get here. Most are proly not even aware there is a sub forum in the first place.

as to the creation of the EO forum
while i was not a moderator at the time ..my understanding is that the creation of this forum was not Graham's idea alone but rather a compromise that was reached by Graham..the other Mods and the TCADMIN..
who exactly came up with the idea first i couldn't say and i dont think is important really
this was done in an effort to appease all 3 moderators who were all on the verge of quitting or threatening to quit ..Graham too was ready to resign before the compromise was reached..and all this after one moderator had resigned already
i have no reason to believe otherwise and i believe this to be the case now
It's all there in the hidden mods forum Steve.
The EO subforum was not my idea, but when it was suggested at the time, all of the CCC and CTF mods agreed to it.
You could easily confirm this.
I did review the Mod forum and i do see that everybody agreed to it
i didn't see who first suggested the idea but as i said before i dont think that makes any difference..
Steve
Thank you Steve. Hopefully that's one less accusation I'll get harrassed about.
You'll see who suggested the idea in there too.

Cheers,
Graham.

there is a difference between not allowing the discussion of something not proven to be illegal "anywhere "on the board at all and having some of the discussion of the legality of engines in a separate sub-forum
we ..the mods ..dont strictly moves threads around to any forum so the EO forum is there for those wanting to use it
i notice the vitriol and complaints can sometimes be the same although what we are discussing is something far less important..IMHO
in past mod terms the discussion ..very heated and contentious..was whether or not to allow discussion and or links of certain engines at all ..anywhere on the board
now we are still discussing where to allow it ..so that unregistered guests can read it..and for some ..with the same level of heat and intensity
if your here to push the Open Chess forum thats OK
you have a forum with appointed moderators ..formed by moderators
who were sitting moderators at the time here..who cut and ran ..abdicating their duly elected responsibilities here ..one month before elections
a bit of ego building was involved in that if you ask me
anyway...look at the bright side
in about 3 weeks you will have a chance to vote for far better moderators then we are
Happy Holidays to you and yours

Yup
i found it
the suggestion was first made by the TCADMIN in an effort to calm everybody down
he made the suggestion and left it to all of the moderators to state their opinions

It's a shame they don't stay there and pollute that forum with their crap instead of this one.
Banks,

Is there an individual like yourself from any other computer chess forum who goes out of his way trying to delegitimize chess engines -- posting feces picture to depict the engines?! And at one point even quiting the forum because public discussion of a new engine was allowed? I don't think so.
Oh how exciting. My number one stalker yet again.
Maybe it's not exciting and maybe i should not control (stalker? ) your dignity,
but lets hope then, that your dignity controls you.
