Why do you say super powerful? Is it playing at playchess? Long time ago, Naumov stated he was going into retirement. After the release of the Ippolit source, he stated he was going to see what could be gained from it to improve Naum, or something to that effect.

If a new version was available, it would be announched on Naum's page here:

http://naumchess.brinkster.net/

It was not.

I remember a while ago, somebody renamed one of the firebirds to a made up version of Naum and used it on Playchess.

Mr. Naumov probably doesn't have a lot of motivation to improve his product. Only two groups will buy the product:

1) Those who don't do any research, buy the first thing they find, and stumble onto Naum first.

2) Those who want every engine that exists.

Otherwise, they're going to run into Rybka, which costs about the same, or Houdini and Stockfish, which are free; all three of which are rated higher.

Unless Mr. Naumov finds a way to turn his product into a demon that's rated 50+ ELO higher than the others and which wails on the others in "sanctioned" tournaments and matches, he's facing an uphill battle.

Pay-engines are all but history anyway, thanks to the IP* series and Stockfish. Any who survive will probably do so by bundling other features, ala Shredder---- or by marketing campaigns, site-censorship, a legion of hemorrhoid-counting followers to spread the good word, and pressurization of the "official" ratings list people into not allowing the IP* engines access to the lists, ala the good folks at Rybka.
This production is being brought to you by Rybka: "The engine made from scratch.™"
