Hi Graham,
I use opening suits like the silver-suite.
I have had no luck with an opening book here using Arena 3.0.
best wishes

Great, I've had a look. It seemed to work ok (pretty much default options, told the GUI that it was a WB1 protocol). You will find a problem in this (or other guis) if you try to start from a set position, though.Graham Banks wrote:Yes - it's freeware:silentshark wrote:Thanks, no idea about ChessGUI, never tried it.. is it freeware?Graham Banks wrote:Thanks Tom. I'll give it another go under ChessGUI. Didn't have any luck with the last release under that GUI though unfortunately.silentshark wrote:Hi Graham,Graham Banks wrote:Hi Tom,
is it possible for Francesca to use a generic opening book instead of its own book?
Cheers,
Graham.
yes, although it's not as clean as one would hope.
just delete or rename the book files (franbook.b and franbook.w) in the francesca directory. At that point you can use other books, e.g. under Arena - this is through the "force" command. You can't force Francesca to start the game from a given FEN position, though.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Graham.

WB1 means ChessGUI would expect "edit" instead of setboard().silentshark wrote:Great, I've had a look. It seemed to work ok (pretty much default options, told the GUI that it was a WB1 protocol).
