On-line blitz tourney April

Post by hgm »

The on-line engine blitz tourney for April will be on

Saturday April 9, 3pm EST (21:00 CET)

winboard -zp -ics -icshost 80.100.28.169 -icshelper timeseal -fcp ENGINE.exe -fd ENGINEFOLDER -autoKibitz

should do it for WinBoard engines, add -fUCI if your engine is UCI. Be there in time! (About 10 minutes in advance would be nice...)

Hi HG,

Last week Bart and myself build a decent PC for Bart to use at his own home.

Unfortunately the problem that Bart gets to see my game each time I start a new one is still there and never the other way around. Now the IP adresses are totally different so it can't be a strange router bug.
It looks like there is something like an 'observe' or 'follow nightmare' command hanging on your server. Can you take a small peek to see what is going on? I don't have any problem with this, but it is really making Bart crazy. LOL

Can unregistered accounts play in the tourney? If so I could bring at least 4 possibly more engines in to play.

Been running sungorus, trace, phalanx, faile, and critter lately there using unregistered nicks.

I have never playing any on-line tourney before and am thinking in playing tomorrow. I have a few doubts:
1) What is that server? is fics or ics? if so I have an account, if not I need one......
2) how long does it usually take?

We usually play 5 min + 1 sec/move, and 9 or 10 rounds, so it takes 2-2.5 hours. You would need a registered account to play in the tourney. Just PM me the name of your engine and an e-mail address, and I can make one for you.

I had to leave early, so I was quite surprised to see the Tinker draw v Critter result.
But then I looked at the pgn

Rated blitz match, initial time: 5 minutes, increment: 1 seconds.

 16. Ke1 (0:00) Nf3+ (0:08)
 17. Ke2 (0:00)
      {Game drawn by repetition} 1/2-1/2
Tinker was out of book, and hardly a "full" game.
I don't see anything unusual in the log file, so I'm guessing it was just a good book line for Tinker, FWIW.

Anyone have any info on Naum? Not sure how I missed that one. What I have found so far was that it placed 2nd to Rybka in one of the ICCT.
