Many issues fixed, and hopefully stronger (~100 elo?) than previous version v0.80
http://sites.google.com/site/gaviotache ... e/releases
For an estimation: it beats Fruit 2.0 (~35 elo stronger at 40 moves/20 seconds after 1000 games) in my computer.
A very detailed explanation of all the changes are here:

Important: BOOK FORMAT CHANGED! (I changed the zobrist keys), so, dowload the new book or build your own from a pgn file again.

EDIT: Android version is available too (besides Windows and Linux)

Thank you for this Miguel, has made my day! Gaviota and Pro Deo are my two favourite engines.

Stronger than Fruit 2.0, not 2.1 I do not believe Gaviota is there yet, since it is claimed F2.1 is about 100 elo stronger than 2.0 in the Fruit website. Now I may have to download F2.1 as a partner!yanquis1972 wrote:stronger than fruit?? what the hell, miguel??

LMR + Futility + extended futility (plus a painful testing of all the margins) were the main sources of improvement. I did not touch evaluation at all since v0.80. Still, I would like to see this confirmed. It would not be the first time that my estimations were too optimistic.
I modified the parallel search but I have no clue if there is any real contribution when several cores are used. It helped to reach certain depth shorter in certain positions.

No kidding, the modification of the parallel search put it in ICU for at least two months.Adam Hair wrote:Great news, Miguel It seems that Gaviota survived the surgery and is better

Hi Miguel,
wow, Gaviota is updated too.
I add version 0.80 in SWCR. At the moment a lot to do in testing but Gaviota 0.83 will be start too, but have to wait 3 months. To big tourneys will be start before.
THANKS for your new engine version and all your work in development of GaviotaBases.
Best
Frank
