Hi Graham,
I found 6 pairs of games in 40/40 that "may" be duplicates. OTOH, they could be acceptable coincidences. They have the same moves, the same engines more or less, and were played on the same day.

You could not differentiate among the controversial engines, among which are commercial, open source or free.
The truth is that this category overlaps else.

I think he's asking for "controversial" to be a separate attribute from open-source/free/commercial. I agree with this. Granted that the "controversial" tag is here to stay, I'd like to suggest the design I'd prefer: controversial engines would look like Houdini [*], IvanHoe [*], Naraku [*], etc., where the [*] has either a link or a title attribute with an explanation. If the CCRL team prefers, the colors could also be partially greyed. In the "custom comparison" section, step 1 would have a new check-box for "Only non-controversial engines". Unless it is checked, then (for example) IvanHoe would be counted as an open-source engine.
I appreciate that implementing this might be more trouble than it's worth. Thanks as always to the CCRL team for testing.
