Wo-awww! Thanks for the bench, Ted! (And how did you get an iPhone 5S so early? ;) )

Can you confirm that it only has 2 cores ? How much memory ? What frequency ?

Because I was at the line outside the Apple Store .... There were many many people stayed overnight outside the Apple Store .... Some had even installed a tent ... The new phone is super fast. iOS 7 lags a little bit even on iPhone 5, but it's all perfect on the iPhone 5s. Someone should do an identical benchmark for the iPhone 5, that is, running the iOS 7 version on the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5C doesn't feel or look like a "cheap" phone. The build is quite good, and the plastic is definitely a high-premium material. Strongly recommended for an upgrade.

Amazing performance for a lowly 1.3ghz dual core!

The extra large 128kb L1 cache of the iPhone5s CPU really make a big difference for chess! That's twice bigger even against our desktop PC cache. Compare that to the latest Snapdragon 800 2.3ghz with only 16kb instruction +16kb data = 32kb total L1 cache.

with 1.15 M NPS, I guess the iPhone 5s will be the new flagship of this long list of smartphones for a while and by quite a margin :D

For comparison purposes, is there such a list issued for laptop or even desktop computers?

According to various published benchmark, the dual core A7 chip is faster than the Samsung Galaxy S4. Samsung knew it, they announced it recently that the new S5 will move into the 64 bits and they will do everything to catch up.

Sounds really good. I want that phone.

To get a perspective of how much faster the new CPU is: Can someone please benchmark the same SF version on an iPhone 5? Use the opening position, and run the program in analysis mode for a minute or so. I'm perfectly aware that the iPhone 5 is already included on the list of benchmarks posted in this thread, but that number is probably for an older SF version compiled with an older compiler version, and therefore not directly comparable to the new iPhone 5s benchmark.

I get 250 kN/s on my iPhone 4s, and 300kN/s on my iPad 3.
