Don,
At first I was afraid to litter this thread with another short message that cannnot do justice to the situation You are in and to Your brave attitude. Probably this is not the best time to express my admiration to You (not only as a programmer, but first and foremost as a person), but this sentiment had to be put into words somehow. I wish You luck, the best luck possible under these sad circumstances.

Dear Don
I'm very sorry to hear of your illness and hope that the treatment won't be too unpleasant for you.
I have always read your posts with great interest and will sadly miss your input immensely.
Best regards from England.

Don:
While I have only been a member of this forum for a short time, I have known of your contributions to the field for decades. Thank you.
Having dealt with much illness in myself and family members, I know how tough it can be, but I have also seen outcomes that have doctors scratching their heads. This is in no way intended to trivialize your situation, or sound trite, but I hope these meager words gave some comfort and hope.
