My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
Don no longer suffers, the pain is for the living.
"A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth. 2 Better to go to the house of mourning than to the house of feasting, for that is the end of every man, and the living should take it to heart." Ecclesiastes 7:1-29
Don surely has built a good name from God's point of view.

Here is the official obituary:

Life Legacy

Donald (Don) R. Dailey, 57, of Roanoke, VA fell asleep in death Friday, November 22, 2013 after losing his 3+ yr. battle with MDS/AML. Don was born in Kalamazoo, MI and leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary; father and mother, Frank & Jean Dailey all of Roanoke; brother and wife, Roger & Daisy Dailey; niece and husband, Ashley & Lucas Menna all of Miami; in-laws & many friends from MA as well as his many uncles, aunts, and cousins from MI. Don gladly served as a publisher of the “good news of God’s Kingdom” (Matt. 24:14) and as an elder with the Roanoke, NE Cong. of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He will be missed by all of his spiritual brothers & sisters from the Roanoke area and beyond. Don has been referred to as “the father of computer chess” and was co-creator of the world famous Komodo chess program. His family and friends look forward to the fulfillment of Jehovah's comforting promises stated at John 5:28,29 and Rev. 21:3,4. A memorial service on behalf of the family will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 3359 Colonial Ave., SW, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, Attn: Treasurer’s Office, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483 in support of their world wide preaching work.

Online condolences may be left for the family via our online guestbook.

Sad to hear of someone taken in his best years. Sincere
condolences to his loved ones at home. When I was completing
high school, he was starting grade school. Seems an injustice.
